Chinese New Year

Friday 06/01/2023

Chinese New Year is upon us! Saying farewell to the Year of the Tiger, we welcome in the Year of the Rabbit. According to custom, the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac bring unique qualities. Rabbits are known for being vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious. The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity.

Auckland will be welcoming in the Year of the Rabbit with a free festival and market day on January 21st at Auckland Showgrounds in Epsom. Find the details at aucklandnz.com

And the fabulous Auckland Lantern Festival will be held at the Manukau Sports Bowl February 2nd-5th.

The traditional new year greeting wishes good fortune; “Gong xi fa cai” in Mandarin and “Gong hei fat choy” in Cantonese.

Happy new year!
