McCahon revisited

Due to illness this month’s interview was postponed, so Nancy has selected a repeat of her interview with Vicky McCahon, daughter of Colin McCahon. This is an interesting look at the McCahon family and the hardships they endured in the early years of his painting. His abstract paintings and overlay of text was criticised by the New Zealand Art community and he struggled financially to provide for his family. He is now regarded as NZ’s most modern artist particularly in his landscape work and his works hang here as well as in galleries overseas
