    An MP since 2017, Anahila is passionate about family values. Her career includes over 17 years social work experience, a broadcast role for Radio Tonga of Aotearoa, and she has been as a catalyst for action and change for women, social services and community groups. On top of all that, she’s also a boss in the sports department, having held managerial roles for Lofa Tonga National Women’s Rugby and Otahuhu RFC, and currently as vice president of the NZ Tonga RFA.

    Monina is a ministerial appointee to the Nursing Council of New Zealand and is also on the Advisory Board Member for the Safer Nursing 24/7 Project. She is a director of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation - the lead nurses’ organisation and union representing close to 52,000 nursing staff all over New Zealand and the first Filipino to hold such a position in New Zealand. Monina talks to Anahila about her aspirations for a truly inclusive society where everyone has equal access to evidence-based, culturally safe health care to improve long-term public health outcomes.
