There are recipes, live interviews, handy hints, health information, nutrition and beauty tips.   • Producer / Presenter: Pratima Devi Nand

    Born in Fiji, Pratima became a Kiwi in 1976.  A founding member of the Fiji Women’s Society, Pratima is a smoke-free co-ordinator and a busy community networker. She works as a translator, interpreter and civil marriage celebrant. Her passion for cooking led to the production of cooking DVD’s and plenty of treats for her three grand-daughters.

    This festival is observed once a year by all married women of Hindu descent. Women fast for the entire day and pray for their husbands longevity. They stay awake up until they have witnessed the moon that night. They then break their fast by praying. Listen to another beautiful story related with this pious festival of our Indian women.
