MMR vaccination

Monday 11/03/2019

Cases of the highly infectious and potentially fatal measles disease have reached Auckland. The way to prevent such outbreaks from spreading further is to ensure that anyone who can be vaccinated is up to date with the MMR vaccinations.

Two doses of MMR (given at least four weeks apart) are recommended and fully-funded for any child, teenager or adult who is known to be susceptible to one or more of the diseases.

This includes adults born from 1969, when the measles-only vaccine was first introduced, with no documented history of two doses of measles-containing vaccine.

Please check your immunisation records with your local GP if you are uncertain, and check the Ministry of Health website for more information of measles.
