•PhD Psychology with a passion for grassroots community empowerment and its relationship to health and wellbeing
•Pioneered the development of community houses leading to their being established nationally.
•Retired Associate Professor of Behavioural Science, University of Auckland
•Adjunct Professor at AUT University
•Former Chair NZ Mental Health Foundation
•Worked with World Health Organisation and on the Ottawa and Bangkok Charters.
JAMES SAMUEL: James Samuel
•Corporate Community Building and Social Networking Consultant focussing on networking technologies.
•Facilitator of several on-line communities inc. OOOOby and Transition Towns
•Formerly, farmer, woodworker, traveller, paragliding instructor.
•Recently, manager of the Waiheke cinema.
•Has worked on Waiheke to establish community gardens, the local farmers’ market and a new primary school.
